Phototherapy Treatment

What is Phototherapy?

Phototherapy, also called light therapy, is a type of medical treatment that is used to treat a wide range of inflammatory skin conditions by controlled exposure to specific ultraviolet light. Other forms of light may be used as well which depends upon the condition that is being treated. Through phototherapy, the patient's whole body or a confined area can be treated.

How does Phototherapy work?

Phototherapy is performed in our Phototherapy Center and it differs for different skin conditions. The basic principle behind this treatment is to utilize light booths with ultraviolet A (UVA) and ultraviolet B (UVB), or a combination of both wavelengths to treat inflammatory skin conditions. The light energy suppresses inflammation in the skin. There are full body booths for treating large areas of the skin or hand and foot units for targeting specific areas.
